Whether for personal branding purposes or a company/corporate brand, there exists a near-perfect solution most businesses & organizations will want to consider; in fact, we entrust our own internal projects (including Veb.co) with this particular platform.
Squarespace is a refined, powerful platform. With the recent additions of both membership functionality (alongside premium/paid blog subscriptions) and video player/hosting, Squarespace makes up for the areas where many of its competitors fall short. In other words, rarely can it be rivaled for what it does. There exist easier-to-use solutions, but this is because most are turn-key (i.e., cookie-cutter) systems and, therefore, less customizable. While Squarespace has an intuitive interface, its learning curve is slightly steeper as a result of the meticulous attention to detail it offers.
Squarespace is increasingly referred to as an all-in-one platform reinforced due to email marketing (with automation) and online scheduling among several other notable features making up its repertoire. For this reason, it’s quickly growing in popularity with the likes of solopreneurs & content creators (i.e., bloggers/vloggers, podcasters, affiliate/network marketers, influencers, thought leaders, etc), freelancers, consultants, and start-ups interested in launching, managing, and marketing their own websites.
It has built-in podcasting tools which are second to none, an online store function for selling both physical and digital products along with subscription-based services (not to mention the ability to accept donations), advanced yet easy-to-understand analytics, and much more.
The interface is an engineered work of art (making Squarespace a joy to use) following their underlying vision of creating a more beautiful Web. On a similar note, they are probably best known for their stunning & modern templates (i.e., themes). Based on a single wireframe (a super-template of sorts), all features & functionality are present, with content structuring adaptable to virtually any website look & feel. They’re included as part of each plan.
One important point we'd like to highlight is the lesser-known fact that blogging with Squarespace is fantastic. You can set up multiple blogs on a single site, and content is shareable on social media. Also, all of Squarespace's site elements are integrated directly into blog posts, offering your visitors a seamless experience. In sum, it's a very effective tool for communicating newsworthy, time-sensitive, and/or categorized information to your audience; combine that with the level of security offered by proprietary systems, and you have a Web-based application used by independent publishers and major publications alike.
Lastly, Squarespace offers a unique opportunity for Web professionals to develop customer projects on; in fact, several entrust it to large enterprises for building out portions of their websites such as a blog or portfolio (another area where Squarespace shines), which speaks volumes about its level of sophistication. Squarespace does have a designer community entitled Circle (with some very practical perks) as well as a developer platform offering the ability to create completely custom templates and, as of recent, the option to build upon its existing commerce feature set through their API. Cool stuff, indeed.
